A Hazy Shade Of Winter

Outside there is really a hazy shade of winter. The snow has almost melted and it's gray and cloudy. I'm at home (sick= fever, headache and throwing up) third day in a row and I'm just a little bit better. I have slept yesterday and day before, but today I woke up bored. I'm also rediciously weak - because I've been forced to not to eat, just drink. Today I'm fiesting on baby food of pears and mango. (If it's good for 4 month old, maybe my stomach will co-operate with it.)
I'm listening to the Definitive Simon and Garfunkel. It's one of my dearest albums and always makes me feel more comfortable. I'm also looking something funny from the nice web pages I accidentially found. I recommend!

This was a great place I came across: (Picture is taken by Becky Stern)
They have this really fab idea that people can come and choose yarns they'd like to combine and the owner makes the color-fibre-blend for them! WOW, what a busines idea! It's sad I can't visit there, beacause it so far, far away. BUT I can giggle in my mind for their witty name for a yarn shop :D

I have a little tree hugging hippy inside me so I was really excited to find this:

A neclace and other jewels made out of plastic garbage (Mana collection)

A plastic PET bottle turned into a wallet :D

Alltough today is gray, I am mostly up for the positive approach. So how about this:
- My credit cards have been snapped in two - buhuu! What am I gona do.
- Well You could turn this misfortune into a mirror frame?!
- Yess! Thats right! See the tutorial by Craft Stylish

I'm having too many ideas...no strenght to do them...must go for a nap...oh, snap!

Australia!

"Are you sure Joe-Joe, that these bags are the hippest in spring 2009?"
Now you think that I've seen the movie, but nope. I saw a documentary about Australia and found two things higly appealing; a kangaroo orphanage and some aboriginal art.

Well I love small animals of any sorts so my heart melted when I saw how the little kangaroo babies were taking care of. The nanny of the kangaroos takes a sack and holds it open. The baby kangaroos naturally like the idea of jumping in the bag and enthusiasticly they do so. Then the nurse keeps them near and the kangaroos really like it because that's the way they travel with their mothers.
The lower painting is done by Fred Ward Tjungurrayi, but I didn't get the maker of the first one. The lines and the colours are so childlike that I just can't resist liking them.

Welcoming the year 2009

New year went peacfully with friends and good food. Christmas time was full of relatives and, well, good food (my favorites being sweet raisin "soup" with whipped cream! And some rice porridge too)

Here are some of the presents I got (last year, oh!). The shoe is made by LOVELY Tilda instructions.
These really fine wool socks are a gift from Jaakko's grandmother (she is a really skillful knitter)

And this hand made, one of a kind! train for the doll house children to play with ;) Thanks Lissu!

Tahvo got this cool life jacket! This will make our trips to the summer gottage more safe than ever! (we need to travel about 1,6 kilometers with boat to get there)

Then we can joke about officer Tahvo ;)
Maybe he will arrest us because of our bad sense of humour...
