Supergreen

I've spent two days at the summer cabin and took these pictures. I think the soap is one of the most beautiful things. The colour and how the little bubles have dried on it. The other photo I took trough a green, old bottle bottom that I found from the beach. Isn't it hilarious.

Old prints

I have to add some of the prints I found from the jaakkos grand parent's summer cottage. They are the kind of people who never throw things away. And it's great! All these things bring memories to me!

Summer is finally here!

My holiday is going very nice idling. We are going to go to the beach today too. The weather is beatuful ! Up above: the smoke-sauna jaakko's grand father has built from the cratch. Then the butterfly that had died on that flower...and next the first blueberries I found and last but not least Tahvo in the beach with us.

Today was raining so I read a book about Maija Isola. It was really interesting because I didn't know much about her. Only that she was the top designer in Marimekko. And was she! The book was illustrated with pages + pages with her designs and paintings but the best part was (for me at least) the letters and greeting cards she had written trough the years. She was master with words too ;)

Up abowe is one of my favourite desingns - Dombra. (There are others on the Marimekko home page.)

Sunday went by fast because I was a bit tired and drove from Mikkeli to Viitasari. I listened Henning Mankkel's Faceless Death from cd the whole drive. It was so scary it kept me awake.

If it wasn't raining and cloudy we would walk trough this backyard in to the beach, but instead we are going to go to the library and get something nice to read. It's nice to just be with Jaakko.

I had a really nice Saturday evening (the birthday/housewarming party). Excellent food (salty pies and bread with herbs and cheese), Singstar, friendly people and the cutest puppy!

Saturday 19 July 2008

It's the perfect saturday for idling. Little sun shine now and then. 2 big cups of tea. Reading the newspaper. And what did I see?! The funniest Rubber Duck from Estonian Villu Jaanisoo. Hi,hi!

The rest of the day I will spend figuring out what to wear for the party tonight. Maybe I just go as Ninja? (I don't know him, but I love this guy!)

Today

Last work day in over 2 weeks - holiday! Lots of picture taking (new, bigger memory card).

Tomorrow

Friend has an united birthday and a house warming party.

The day after that

Leaving to Viitasaari and see my family.

(That's not me in the picture. It's from Ivana Helsinki. I share Paola's love for 70's styled photos and clothes. I crave for some of the clothes they sold few years back. This camping print is a classic!)

CA-ME-RA, CA-ME-RA, CA-ME-RAAAA
(arranged for one off-key woman-voice using the tune of FI-GA-RO)

Yeah! I have my new camera now :D It felt like my work day would never end because I bought the apple of my eye in the morning.

Here is our dog (Tahvo). He poses like a professional (on the kitchen rug). The picture was taken after 90 minutes of battery charging and about 130 pages of manual reading.

If it was raining men instead of water I would have taken some pictures outside too.

Wednesday 16 July 2008

The rest of the day wasn't so bad. I decided to patch my (the dog seems to forget easily) trauma from the wet by purchasing the camera of my dreams...(I'll post more about it tomorrow, and propably every day after that :D)

Then I saw my friend with her twin boys (2 years). And when the termites left I went to work and the beautiful-colored new yarns had arriwed! Maybe I will refresh my crocheting skills and try to do something like this...The cutest teddy bears:It bothers me I don't remember where I foud them. I'm sorry on behalf of the maker. Sooo cute!
Today I took our dog (miniature pincher called Tahvo) to be vaccinated. The dog didn't like it. Neither did I.

Tuesday 15 July 2008

Lonely, cloudy day. Oh and there's thunder storm coming! Perfect!

Or a girl (me) whose dear boyfriend (Jaakko) spends his three moths worth of vacation in the safe distance of 220 Kilometers (in the wee town of Viitasaari - our original home). I'm stuck here (City of Mikkeli- the place we now live and work) because of my job. Blaah! I'm thinking of calling one of his tennis balls Little-Wilson (Cast Away). Snake comics seem to talk the same language with my inner thoughts...

I LOVE IT!

This fall (2008) the best ready-to-wear cloth is this dress by Rodarte. This is not irony. I really do love it and it is propably really difficult to knit. I really would like to try. Maybe change the colors? I'm not the fashiony type (even tough I have that clothing industry degree from Jyväskylä Polytechnic) and I foud this picture from finnish knit magazine by accident. What a gem! And check out the cool pantyhose!

Agreeable thigs today

1. Listening (among others) The Magic Piper (of Love) by Edwyn Collins, Tennessee Stud by Johnny Cash and the lovely version of One Way or Other by the adorable Sophie Ellis-Bextor while jogging with my little dog.

2. Hot chocholate that gently woke me up at 6.00

3. This little girl with her crocodile wagon. Why, oh, why there is no crocodiles in Finland. I would like to change my grey Opel to this vehicle pronto! (My mind would propably change in the winter)
