Knitting blogs

I get really exited about yarns and knitting and crochet work. And every now and then I read knitting blogs even tough I already have three knits waiting to be finished and reading only makes me wanna start new works. So instead of beginning knitting new adorable things right away, I share these ideas here and when I get something ready I can return to this (I have this strict "only three knits uncomplete is okay"-law). Well I would LIKE to do a vintage looking (1920?) slipover and leg warmers(like the green ones in the picture down) for myself, a little jacket for Tahvo, a stylish cap for Jaakko and many more....

This "Dragon scarf" is Vilma's design. And she generously gives the pattern for free in her blog (clic her name) in finnish and english. Love the simplicity, functional form and innovative idea!

This dog is really stylish! My Tahvo (it's also a miniature pincher) should have a better garderobe. Thanks to Heidi's blog for it!This is an amazing work of Althea Crome. And the incredible part is that she makes everything at the scale of 1:12!!! It's hard to apprehend that this jacket is only few centimeters in size.

Snow! Is that snow?

Tahvo looks so poetic. He looks to the distance and dreams of far away places.. full of nice dog ladies?

And YES! I believe that's snow, alltough there is no much (I might not go skiing yet). We had a refreshening morning walk under the cold and misty winter sunlight. One of the reasons I like this neighborhood is that the nature is so close (and I have only 2 kilometers to the city centre where I work.) We've been looking for a bit bigger home (now having 49 m2 for 2 adults and a dog)), but finding a home at a better location is giving us grief.

My day has began very nicely. I did nothing "usefull" this morning, I read the culture pages of my newspaper and drank two cups of coffee and knitted a bit one of the hats I'm making for the TRIPLETS my workmate's daughter is having early next year!!!

Chilly day and cozy things

Todays theme is (weird) tea party for my taste. Including:
These two tea cups that really will start the conversation going...( From Hidden Art shop).And that super cute tea cozy! It's hand-made by Samantha Stas using recycled woollens and vintage linens, with hand-dyed crochet trim and ric-rac, £25, from Not on the High Street. The colours and the pattern is so adorable. And last the only underwear anyone should be eating = Biscuit underwear from a British bakery called Biscuiteers. I smile at this idea. It also makes me happy to know that in this cold, hard world there is someone who thought "I think I'll earn my living by making funny biscuits".

The weather is really chilly here, about -3 degrees celcius. The grass has icing on top, but there is no snow. I wait for the snow drinking tea and dreaming of skiing picnic (hot chocolate is in order there).

Really nice weekend and now waiting for snow

I had a lovely time this weekend! Thanks to my guest of honor: Raisa. In that picture she's (proudly) presenting the lap top bag we designed and made today and yesterday for her new lap top... Oh and Tahvo is there too wondering if he could lick that wonderfull human being just once more. We also started to sew tunics for ourselves, but they are not yet finished.

We also talked a lot, among other thing movies, and now I'm waiting to see "War inc." as well as "August Rush" and "The Son of Rambow". We also ate well and drank some vine and watched the movie about the talented artist Beatrix Potter and it was okay, but the drawings she made were and are magnificent. I had one of her books when I was little, but I didn't realize how inventive and subtle the pictures are. Also the artist was a freak in her times, because she denied marriage, earned her living and was the ruler of her own life. That makes her even more admirable for me.

Artsy for my taste and a cartoon

This pillow-sculpture is made by Eva Torudd and the idea is really cute and inventive, as you can conclude from the name " princess on top of a pea" (I'm not sure is the story of this princess familiar to all)... There's also something really appealing about the pillows getting smaller and smaller. Somehow this piece makes me think of babushkas (You know the wooden carved dolls that you can get from Russia).


Elizabeth Christiansson has made this colorfull doll. I really like it (little hippy inside me laughs out of joy seeing this one:))

And last but not least my cartoon from the drawing class...It's not ready, but it's ready enough to show to you. So I just snapped a photo instead of scanning it. It's about a lonely imaginary-friend...
